AWE Apprentices join Thames Valley network

AWE is proud to be part of the Thames Valley’s newly-launched Young Apprentice Ambassador Network (YAAN), with two of its apprentices already signed up.

The Thames Valley YAAN is part of a national initiative to develop a community of inspiring, driven apprentices and former apprentices. It will work closely with four other areas in the South East to grow and expand the region’s apprenticeship programme. Its Ambassadors will enthuse and inspire others by engaging with young people, schools, teachers and parents, to champion apprenticeships through their own exciting experiences.

The YAAP is supported by employers from across the region, all of whom are members of the well-established Thames Valley Apprenticeship Ambassador Network (AAN) and representatives from all three Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) in the region and, most importantly, a number of enthusiastic current and recent apprentices who are keen to share their story.

Marcus Hutchings, who leads AWE’s award-winning apprenticeships Skills Academy, said:

“This is a great initiative and I’m very impressed by the calibre of the Apprenticeship Ambassadors. What better way to highlight the benefits and opportunities offered by 21st-century apprenticeships than to hear directly from some of the outstanding young apprentices from across the region?

“This network will be a boon for employers and apprentices now and for the future and I believe it will play a vital part in ensuring that the South East continues to offer excellent opportunities and secure the skilled and professional workforce that it needs.”
