AWE donates 4k to Hampshire Medical Fund

The AWE Charity Fund has made a £4,000 donation to Hampshire Medical Fund’s Dig Deep Campaign to purchase vital medical equipment for three local hospitals.

The money will go towards state-of the art medical equipment such as Intensive Care hospital beds, ventilators and monitoring equipment to help change or save lives. The Dig Deep Campaign aims to make a significant contribution to the medical resources currently required to tackle the unprecedented situation we are all facing.

AWE has been a member of the Hampshire Medical Fund’s 500 Club since 2019. The 500 club provides the opportunity for local business, such as AWE, to support local Hampshire Hospitals in Andover, Basingstoke and Winchester.

The donation comes from AWE’s Charity Fund, which is set-up to support good courses in the local community. Many of our people also give their own time to support their chosen charities. AWE’s Charity Fund Secretary Michele Maidment, said: “We are delighted to be able to support the campaign and our amazing NHS frontline workers at a time when it is so urgently needed.”

Peter Walsh, Head of Fundraising, Hampshire Medical Fund said: “Our 2020 events programme – which would have generated 50% of our annual income – was decimated by the arrival of Covid-19. The employees of AWE have stepped up to help us buy vital equipment for our front-line clinical staff.”

“We’re immensely grateful to AWE and its employees for their amazingly generous donation of £4,000 to our Dig Deep emergency fundraising campaign.”

All of the equipment procured or outstanding will be going straight to the Emergency Departments, Intensive Care Units, Acute Assessment Units, Cardiology and Microbiology departments across the three Hampshire hospitals.
