AWE gives a gift for Christmas

A Covid-compliant Christmas charity collection at AWE produced hundreds of kilos of food, plus toys and toiletries.

Altogether, 560 kilos of food, 15 boxes of toiletries and clothes and 150 toys were donated by staff. The food was packed into hampers and will go to Basingstoke Trussell Food Bank, the toiletries and clothes to Nishkam SWAT (Sikh Welfare and Awareness Team) homeless and community support teams and the toys to Barnado’s.

AWE’s Michele Maidment, who organised the charity collection, said: “This year has been very difficult for everyone but for some people it has been particularly challenging. Although many of us are working differently due to the pandemic, colleagues still wanted to do their bit to help provide some of seasonal cheer.”

Paula Vallance, Operations & Development Manager with Basingstoke Foodbank, added: “Our heartfelt thanks to the ever generous employees of AWE who have pulled together again at the end of this very challenging year to donate over half a ton of items, and have packed them into Christmas Hampers for our annual hamper distribution to families and individuals in need. This year more than ever you have helped to share some joy and hope with members of our community who are struggling.”
