Supply Chain Management go for gold

AWE’s Supply Chain Management (SCM) team is delighted to have been awarded the prestigious Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) gold standard. This follows the team’s previous success when it received a CIPS business award in 2020.

The Gold Standard is an internationally recognised award run by CIPS as part of their Advanced Procurement Excellence Programme, with only nine organisations globally including AWE having achieved the Gold award. Organisations on the programme must demonstrate to both the CIPS Assessors and CIPS Independent Verifiers that they meet the criteria within the Advanced Award to achieve either a Silver (Advanced), Gold (Leading) or Platinum (World Class) level.

AWE SCM achieved the lower CIPS ‘Standard’ award in 2020, and with continuous improvement reached has now attained the Gold level.

Barry Hunter, Chief Financial Officer, said: “I’m so pleased for the team that they have achieved this award. This isn’t just about demonstrating to our stakeholders that we are striving to become a leading procurement organisation. More importantly, this is about the SCM team who have taken it upon themselves to create positive, measurable change. They said they were going to achieve the Gold Award, and they’ve done it. Everyone in the SCM team played their part. Well done!”

Jonathan Patrick, Chief Procurement Officer and Head of Supply Chain, added: “Achieving the Gold Standard demonstrates how well our SCM team is performing, with the aim of progressing from a Leading organisation to a Platinum World Class business in the future.
