AWE soars at Farnborough International Airshow 2024

Exhibiting for the first time at Farnborough International Airshow 2024, AWE engaged with the best of British industry across the aerospace and defence sector, raising awareness of our organisation while connecting with current and new suppliers, growing our relationship with trade bodies and engaging with future talent who want to join AWE.

With over 75,000 trade visitors and more than 1,250 exhibitors from aerospace, defence and space, Farnborough International Airshow 2024 (FIA2024) is a key business-to-business event and AWE were thrilled to be amongst the exhibitors for the first time.

The AWE team, drawn from across the business and including our CEO, Nick Elliott MBE, and Exec colleagues, drove five full days of engagement around our mission, our programmes, our functions, our people and our brand.

On Monday 22nd July, Nick joined for the official show opening and recorded an interview with Aerospace Global News. He spoke about the increased visibility of AWE and the need to attract the attention of the very best people across the UK.

“The re-investment in our organisation, the building of new infrastructure, the recruitment of the very best science and technology capability and people from every academic institution around the UK, is very much part of the future and it’s fantastic to see that that future is really being invested by the new government.”

Present at the show, along with Nick, was Andrew McNaughton, Executive Director Capital Programme, and Ross Powlesland, Chief Operating Officer, alongside members from AWE’s teams from across the organisation, gaining input from stakeholders on how we can best structure our supply chains to extend capacity, access the best capability and drive forward innovation to support AWE’s programmes.

Andrew McNaughton comments: “We hosted many visitors at the AWE stand and provided seminars such as that on our infrastructure programme over the coming decades. This was an excellent engagement with supply chain partners old and new. As a first real representation of our business at this prestige event, it was also great to see our new brand depicted broadly across conference transport from local transport hubs.”

Opening to the public on Friday 26th July, this STEM-focussed day saw AWE’s HR and recruitment teams showcasing the vast range of opportunities for building great careers at AWE, engaging graduates, career-movers and inspiring the younger generations into STEM for national recruitment.

“The re-investment in our nuclear capability means we need to get the very best scientists, engineers and people of every capability,” acknowledges Nick Elliott.

We want to thank everyone who engaged with us throughout the week. These events are crucial for AWE to gain an understanding of the UK supply chain and engaging future talent to ensure that, together, we meet the challenges of the national endeavour.

Don’t worry if you missed us this year, come and speak to AWE at our next event, visit our careers site or see what we’d like from industry.
