Science team shines at International Radiation Protection Association Congress

Around 30 of AWE’s scientists took part in the 7th European International Radiation Protection Association (IRPA) Congress in Liverpool last week, joining more than 1,100 radiation protection professionals from across the globe.

The event brought together leading experts from academia, industry and government to share insight, innovation and best practice in radiation protection.

Celebrating success on the international stage

There was a standout moment of recognition for one of our Defence Radiation Protection Services (DRPS) colleagues, who was awarded the 2026 Society for Radiological Protection (SRP) Founders Medal for her outstanding early-career contribution to the profession.

AWE also played many active roles across the conference, from chairing sessions, leading workshops, and delivering technical presentations.

Looking ahead

While our active role within the IRPA Congress demonstrates our breadth of expertise, we are committed to build on this momentum, by continually developing our critical work within the sector and shaping the future of radiation protection.
